Unlike carpets you can vacuum the underside of the rug, which is good because much of the dirt will have worked its way deep into the fibers. If you shampoo the rug, you can take it outside to dry in the sunshine.

It will dry much faster than carpets would, inside. Dampness is the number one reason for mold on carpets.

Vacuuming with a good vacuum cleaner will keep the rug looking its best for a long time. Clean all stains and spills quickly before they soak in.

It is easier to clean a stain as soon as you see it. Dried in stains are difficult to get out, and there is always a chance of causing damage to the carpet fibers.
