Do not drag heavy furniture on carpets because it can crush the carpet fibers. Eliminate static electricity in carpets. 1/2 cup of liquid fabric softner. 1 quart water. 1 spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the carpet where you want to remove the static electricity. Let it dry. Most carpet common carpet fiber is nylon. The fibers in nylon carpet last a long time, and are quite soil-resistant and easy to clean. It comes in many different colors and textures.
