Pet stain removal in carpet works best if you clean it up as soon as you see it. There will also be less time for the liquids to soak in, and cause permanent stains or damage to the carpet.

Remove as much liquid and solids as possible with paper towels. Do not spread the stain. Work from the edge to the center.

Then lightly wet the stain with a mixture of mild dish-washing liquid and warm water. Soak up the moisture with clean dry towels.

Next pour the white vinegar into a spray bottle, and mist the area to be cleaned. Dry with a clean towel.

If the carpet is expensive, it may be better to use a carpet cleaning professional, instead of cleaning it yourself.

Carpets with stain resistant finishes, give you more time to blot up the spill before it soaks into the fibers. Do not over wet the carpet. Club soda is also good for cleaning pet stains and odors.
