Homemade Pet Odor Eliminators

Pet owners often use household cleaning products,as pet odor eliminators, to clean their dog or cats accidents. But they are often surprised that the treated area, often smells worse than it did before it was cleaned.

The reason is that many household cleaning products contain ammonia. Ammonia is very effective in killing germs, but it is one of the chemicals contained in cat urine and dog urine.

When used to clean to clean a stain, the dog smells ammonia, which it confuses with urine. They like to pee in the same area over and over again.

Homemade Cleaner

You can make a homemade cleaner, that you can use with great success. Use a mixture of 20 percent white vinegar and 80 percent water. Put it in an old washed out spray bottle.

Spray the stain, and blot dry with paper towels. repeat if needed. Be careful to test the mixture on a hidden spot of your carpet before use.

When treating urine spots in carpets, it is important to soak the carpet, to reach deep down in the carpet so that it gets to all of the urine, which may be deep down in the carpet.

Do not leave the carpet wet. Blot well with paper towels until it is as dry as you can make it.
