What is the best home remedy, musty carpet smell eliminator? A lot of people think that cleaning with natural materials takes more work. Some think because it is natural it does not clean as well. This of course is not true.

Millions of dollars are spent on toxic household cleaning products every year. If you look on the label of many of these products, you will see that they contain many components that are not healthy for people or animals.

Most of these toxic ingredients are washed down the sink, and end up in the water that we drink. Detergents in these cleaners are also toxic to fish and wildlife.

Air Fresheners

Air fresheners also contain toxic ingredients, and they only cover up odors, that we should have taken care of in the first place. Masking an odor does not make it go away. This is why after the effect of the air freshener wears off, the odor comes back. Then you have to use more air freshener. Masking the odor is only a temporary solution.

Nothing works like baking soda to remove odor from a musty carpet. Sprinkle baking soda over the carpet. Leave it on overnight. Sweep up as much as possible so that the vacuum cleaner does not get clogged. Then vacuum up the rest. If any residue or damp baking soda is left over, you can clean it with 1 cup of water mixed with 1/4 cup of white vinegar.

Homemade air freshener

2 Tablespoons white distilled vinegar

2 cups of water

Put the mixture in a spray bottle and shake well.Spray stains and smelly areas.

Vanilla Air Freshener

Place 1 tablespoon of natural vanilla extract in a bowel and place it uncovered, in the kitchen or bathroom. After a few hours a vanilla scent will waft all over the room. Replace every day and you will have a plesent natural scent in your home.
