How to Clean Mold

How to clean mold that appeared after you had a leak. You will also have to clean mildew. They often go hand in hand. It can cause health problems if not taken care of.

Keep your home clean. Open windows and allow fresh air in. Do not have any standing water around houseplants. Keep bathrooms clean and clean with products that will kill mold.

Take care of any leaks right away. Use exhaust fans in bedrooms and kitchens. Use dehumidifiers in damp climates.

How to clean mildew

When you first see mold it can be upsettimg. The good news is that most mold is harmless and not too difficult to deal with. Mix one cup of bleach per gallon of water. This will remove mold from nonporous areas.

Use dust masks and gloves. The mold can become airborne which it is important to use a mask.To be safe you can also have a test done to see if it is toxic.

Tips to avoid mold and mildew

Keep fresh air in the bathroom when showering, open windows, and use exhaust fans. This will prevent the build up of moisture.

Fix drips and leaks. Do not allow the bathroom floor to remain wet after you are finished using it. Clean mold and mildew as soon as you see it. It is easier to clean small areas, before it spreads and becomes a much bigger problem.
