Homemade Carpet Cleaner

Here are some homemade carpet cleaner tips. Always test on a small area of carpet that is in an area that can not be seen, to make sure that it works and does not cause damage.

Pour club soda on a stain, allow to soak for a few minutes, then blot up with a cloth.Combine 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1/4 cup water and apply to the stain rinse with clean water.

Spray white shaving cream, (not gel as it has color which may stain the carpet), allow to sit for a few seconds, and wipe off with a damp cloth. Rub cornstarch into lightly stained spots before vacuuming.Cover greasy spills with baking soda, cornstarch, talcum powder or baby powder, and leave overnight, and then vacuum.

With non-greasy spills blot up as much liquid as possible, but do not rub, as this may work the stain deeper in to the fibers. Pour a little club soda over the stain, and blot until dry. White vinegar removes odors and stains from carpet, and it also brightens the color.

BLOOD

Cover the spot with cornstarch mixed with cold water to form a paste. Spread the homemade paste on the stain and, let it dry, then brush off. Repeat until stain is gone.

Always use cold water when working on a blood stain

PET ACCIDENTS

A homemade carpet cleaner also works well on pet accidents. Blot the stain with paper towels to absorb all the moisture.

Rub the spot with a towel dipped in white vinegar. Blot the area with club soda, then blot dry with paper towels.
