Get rid of ugly grout stain and mildew stains

Cleaning grout stain is one of those jobs that most people dread. You can use some of these grout clean tips to make the job easier. Tiles are porous, which means over time dirt and stains go deep in to the tile so that you can not clean it by mopping alone.

In the bathroom mold and mildew cause the black grout stain. As you know they are difficult to clean. In the kitchen you also have food and mildew stains. It makes the tiles look dull and dirty.

You probably have tried a toxic grout cleaner without much success. It is possible to make a non toxic cleaner that can be made by yourself, with products in your kitchen. I have an easy cleaner that does a good job. It is quiet simple. All you have to do is-

Make a paste with vinegar water and baking soda mixed together.

1. Use a stiff brush to scrub into the joints. You can also try a strong detergent and bleach, also try hydrogen peroxide.

2. Do not use bleach if it is colored as it may change the color.

3. Remember to wear gloves, and open the windows.

Re-Grout

If the stains are too deep and you can not get them out you may need to go beyond cleaning, you may need to replace.

1. Go to your local hardware store and get a container of pre-mixed , a plastic 6 inch knife, a large sponge, a small hand tool with a rough edge made to scuff up the joints.

2. Use the tool to scuff up the areas you want to replace.

3. Wipe with a bleach and hot water mix to kill the mildew.

4. Dry the area and apply the new mixture with the plastic knife.

5. Gently wipe off excess with a damp sponge.

6. Do not let it dry on the tiles as it will be very difficult to get it off.

7. Next day when it is dry, apply a sealing liquid.

It is going to involve a lot of work and skill, so be prepared for that before you start. It is good to seal the tiles from stains.
