Clean Tile Grout

You can clean tile grout and clean tile floor that has become discolored. Grout is porous and will become stained as time goes on. For every day cleaning, just wipe the tile with warm water and a sponge. In most homes the common stains are mold and mildew on the grout, and the buildup of soap scum. Scrub the grout with a tooth brush dipped in bleach. The soft bristles allow you to clean the stains without scratching the tile. Always rubber gloves.

Sealing Grout

The sealer prevents dirt from staining the grout. Applying sealer on new tile work will keep it clean. Reapply the sealer every year. This will help prevent stains.

Soap Scum

To remove soap scum spray the surface with an all-pourpose cleaner. Allow to soak, and then rinse with clean water. If the soap scum remains, mist the surface with vinegar. Wait a few minutes before wiping.

Regular cleaning of tile to remove dirt is important. Dirt and sand is abrasive and can cause damage to tile. Mop with a damp mop once a week. Sweep clean every day.

Like any stain, it will be more difficult to clean once it takes a foothold. Light cleaning every day will prevent mold and mildew, and will remove soap scum before it builds up.
