Carpet Stain Remover

If you act quickly you may not need to purchase a carpet stain remover, or have to use any chemicals. Blotting up any liquid on the carpet is the first thing to do. Use clean white towels.

Do not use colored towels because the color may bleed into the carpet and cause more damage than you bargained for. Do not rub, because rubbing will spread the stain. Work from the outside of the stain.

This will help keep the stain from spreading out. Do not apply any cleaner until most of the stain has been blotted up.

A fresh stain can be treated with something as simple as club soda. Pour some club soda on the stain and blot it up. This may be all you need to clean the stain from the carpet.

The next step, if this does not work is to try a little liquid dish washing liquid. Pour some gentle dish washing liquid on a very damp cloth. Gently rub into the stain, and do not use much pressure.

Next get a clean white towel and blot up the liquid. This should work to remove the stain, but there are more steps, if this does not work.

With these carpet stain remover tips we have not used any chemicals or harsh cleaners. It is always better to start with just basic water and work up from there. When you act quickly, it is much easier to get the stain out.

It is important not to use anything that may damage the carpet. When a stain has time to dry in, it becomes more difficult to get out. Carpets are quite expensive, and the last thing you want to do, is to cause any damage to the carpet.

Cleaner Laundry

I have a tip that I would like to share that has worked for me. I add baking soda to every load of laundry. Baking soda is very inexpensive, and it leaves my laundry cleaner and fresher. Baking soda is not only for keeping odors out of your fridge.

Fabric Softener for Odors and Freshness

What I do, is clean my carpets the standard way, with my own carpet cleaning machine.

After my carpets have been thoroughly cleaned, I add one or two cap-fulls of my favorite fabric softener to the tank, with plain water. I then go over the carpets one more time. It leaves my carpets very fresh and soft.

I have been doing this for years. My two dogs are large labs, and you cannot smell any pet odor in my carpets at all.
