cleaning a soiled mattress

Cleaning a soiled mattress or wet mattress is somewhat difficult. A mattress has a large area to soak in to. The best that you can do is clean the surface stains, and air out the mattress so that the interior is dried out.

Prevention is always a better option. If you have kids you know that the chances of bed wetting are extreamly high. You can keep the mattress dry and clean by placing a rubberized waterproof sheet on the mattress. They makerubberized cotton which is more comfortable than all plastic waterproof shields.

Urine Blot up liquid with rags or an old towel. Press hard to absorb as much liquid as possible. Put the mattress on its side to prevent the moisture from working its way deeper in to the pad.

If you can bring it outside and air it out in the sun, even better. When it is dry, lay it flat and apply baking soda to the spot. Leave overnight so that it can soak up any odors. The next day vacuum up the baking soda.

Vomit Scrape off the solids and treat the spot with vinegar and baking soda. Wait until the fizzing stops.Blot up the liquid with a clean absorbent towel or rag. Repeat if needed.

A washable mattress pad is also a way to keep stains and liquid away from your expensive mattress.
